APCC in election mood, constitutes Assembly poll committees

ITANAGAR, July 25: Riding on the success story it had essayed in recently held Parliamentary election, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Nabam Tuki today announced that the party is fully prepared to go for Assembly election at any date to be announced by the Election Commission.

Addressing the media here at party headquarter, Tuki further said that various elections related committees were formed and AICC president Sonia Gandhi has approved manifesto committee for the ensuing assembly election in the state.

The 11-member manifesto committee headed by Tuki as the chairman includes Chief Minister and CLP leader Dorjee Khandu, former chief minister Gegong Apang, Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi, Lok Sabha MPs Takam Sanjoy and Ninong Ering, ministers Kalikho Pul, Chowna Mein and Tako Dabi and APCC secretary T C Tok and President of Arunachal Pradesh Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (APRGPRS) Jarjum Ete.

The AICC has also constituted a 16-member coordination election committee with its General Secretary V Narayanansamy as the chairman besides a four-member publicity committee headed by Thupten Tempa, informed Tuki.

Apart from committees mentioned above, there is a 29-member Pradesh Election Committee headed by Tuki himself. The committee will have special invitees. They are – APMCC president Yari Dulom, APCSD chief organizer Taki Taba, APYC president Likha Saaya, NSUI state unit president Honipa Sono Yangfo, INTUC president Padi Richo and APRGPS president Jarjum Ete, Tuki informed.

When asked about the possibility of any poll alliance with other political parties, especially NCP, the APCC chief ruled out any such possibility.

Party would field candidates in all the 60 Assembly seats and would come out with flying colour in all segments, Tuki emphatically said.

Echoing the view of the AICC general secretary and Arunachal incharge V Narayanaswamy, Tuki said winning prospect, loyalty and performance of the candidates would be taken into consideration while issuing tickets. Party tickets will also be given to women and youth considering their winning prospects, he added.

It may be mentioned here that V Narayanaswamy at a Press meet here on June 17 had said that “candidates with winning prospect will be given party ticket in the ensuing assembly election.” However, he said, “the final decision will rest on the central election committee and AICC president Sonia Gandhi.”

Khonsa to host free eye camp

ITANAGAR, July 25: A free eye camp is being held at Khonsa from July 25-30.

More than 200 patients from all over the district including interior areas have registered their names. Dr. T. Darang, Naharlagun , Dr. K. Taba, Changlang and Dr.A. Rahman, all senior Eye Specialists are conducting the camp.

There will be free eye check-up and eye operation. Separate wards and other arrangements have been specially made for post operative care.

The camp was inaugurated by Habung Donyi, Incharge, DC, Tirap. DMO, Dr. S. Ronya, DRCHO, Dr. Perme and Doctors and medical staff were present during the inauguration.

Earlier, Donyi inspected the wards and other arrangements and expressed his satisfaction over the preparations and appreciated the Doctors for their noble venture in helping the patients, especially hailing from interior areas. (DIPRO)

Sanjoy, ACR condemns attack on senior journalist

ITANAGAR, July 25: Taking serious exception to the attack on senior journalist and Associate Editor of Dawnlit Post, V Ravindran by few unruly youths without any reason or rhyme on Thursday evening, Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy today condemned the act, describing it as uncivilized.

In this IT age why such unfortunate acts should take place in the state that too making the media persons as the soft targets, he questioned in a statement.

The state administration should take stern action against the guilty so as to prevent recurrence of such incidents repeatedly in the Capital Complex. Otherwise, the state government would stand questioned in the eyes of the people, Sanjoy said.

While conveying his sympathy to the Ravindran, Sanjoy said the entire civil society would stand behind the media which has been working with sincerity and dedication for the state against all odds.

Arunachal Citizens Rights(ACR) has vehemently condemned the incident and urge the law enforcing authority to award exemplary punishment to the culprits in accordance with the law.

AAPSU asserts bandh to continue

ITANAGAR, July 25: Denying rumours of AAPSU withdrawing its bandh declared yesterday, the Union’s President Takam Tatung today confirmed that the protest movement is there to stay and that the first phase of 12 hour capital bandh on Monday would be implemented as decided.

Tatung, talking to media this evening, said that the stand of AAPSU against the failure of Home Minister Jarbom Gamlin to discharge his constitutional duties is not negotiable and refused to take anything less than his resignation or ouster from the cabinet.

“Gamlin as the Home Minister has miserably failed from all fronts,” reiterated Tatung and claimed that it was not only the view of AAPSU but the resentment of every common man of the state.

Denying that AAPSU had any parleys with the state govt after declaration of the agitation, Tatung, however, accepted that there were approaches from the Chief Minister’s office inviting him for talks.

“There is nothing to talk. The facts are before the govt and the ball is on their court,” he said adding that good sense would prevail on the govt to feel the pulse of the moment.

Tatung asserted that unless the Home Minister is dropped and the CBI investigation into the Wangcha Rajkumar murder case is made public and comprehensive steps are taken to solve the inter-state boundary dispute, the Union would continue with its protest movement.

“We have been lying quite for a long time. This must not be taken by the govt that the youths of the state are blind to all the wrong things happening across the state at the cost of the common man. If the govt is for the common man, it has to listen to the common man,” Tatung added.

Meanwhile, he informed that during the bandh, which begins on Monday morning, banks, govt and private educational institutions, shops, central and state govt offices will remain closed. However, the media, paramilitary forces, pharmacies, fire brigade, milk vans, electricity personnel on duty and ambulances would be exempted from the purview of the bandh.

CRPF 138 Bn celebrates Raising Day

ITANAGAR, July 25: The 138 Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today celebrated its 9th Raising Day amidst various attention-grabbing programmes at its Sinkeiview headquarters giving themselves a breather from the hectic and monotonous duties

On the occasion, a colorful fair was organized which was inaugurated by the Capital Complex Itanagar deputy commissioner Padmini Singla.

Besides stalling 16 pandals for multi-cuisine eateries, games, groceries, Brahma Kumari meditation counseling etc, the 138 Bn organized recreational events such as gunny bag race, musical chair, matki forh in its raising day.

Speaking in sidelines of the programme, 138 Bn CRPF Commandant Bhupendra Kumar said that 138 battalion was raised on July 24, 2000 in group centre Durgapur in West Bengal to deal with extremism.

“In nine years of its existence, the battalion has been bestowed with many prestigious medals for the meritorious service rendered to the people of the nation”, the Commandant said.

Bhupendra Kumar who served in many naxal infested states said that people of the Arunachal are peace loving and with proper education the people here can usher in development.

The Capital Complex Itanagar Deputy Commissioner Padmini Singla lauded the services redered by the CRPF in the state. She commented the sentinel is known for its “impartiality” and have been augmenting the state security agencies in dealing with various securities related problems. Prior to this programme today, the 138 Bn on Friday had regimental functions such as flag hosting, tribute to martyrs, sainik sammelan and volleyball matches. In the evening a colorful programme was organized in presence of Itanagar City Superintendent of Police Hibu Tamang and other distinguished guest.

Revival & Reform of Cooperative Credit Structure in the State

ITANAGAR, July 25: As a part of revival and reforms of Cooperative Credit Structure in the State, NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh is organizing two days training programme in collaboration with the Department of Cooperation, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh from July 27 at Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Union, Naharlagun for the capacity building of Auditors of Cooperation Department, Managing Directors & Managers of LAMPS. The trainees will be familiarized and sensitized with Common Accounting System as a part of implementation of Vaidyanathan Committee Recommendations. Further, with a view to strengthen the Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank in its efforts to improve the viability of bank, NABARD is arranging two days’ training programme from July 31 for officials of Apex Bank for implementing Development Action Plan and Asset Liability Management, according to an information received from Assistant General Manager NABARD Arunachal Pradesh A.K.Pasrija.

Association demands transfer of EAC

ITANAGAR, Jul 25: Papum Pare District Youth Association appealed the state government to deploy special investigation team to investigate misuse of government fund and bogus enrolment.

It alleged that EAC misused FDR and SPA funds and enrolled bogus voters in the electoral roll in the area.

The Association threatens to call 12 hours bandh on August 10 at Doimukh, Kimin, Balijan including Capital Complex if, the government fail to transfer the EAC, Kimin within 10 days.

This decision was taken in an emergency meeting held recently, informed the association.

BTFC outplay CCFC, storm into final

NAHARLAGUN, Jul 25: Bamang Taji Football Club (BTFC) stormed into the finals defeating Capital Complex Football Club (CCFC) 3-0 in the first semifinal of Tai Nikam Memorial Football Trophy at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here today.

Takam Tayam (substitute) drew the first blood receiving a well gauged pass from LR Singh in 33 minutes. Singh, who is the highest scorer of the tournament so far, increased the tally to 2-0 in 63 minutes while Toko Polliam confirmed team’s victory by scoring the third goal in 83 minutes.

It is worth mentioning here that the audience, for the first time at RG Stadium, witnessed cheerleaders entertaining the crowd.

The second semifinal would be held between Rego Ego Yama Bango Sports association and Model Village Football Club tomorrow at 3 pm. The third place decider would be held between CCFC and loser of tomorrow’s match on July 27. Final would be held on July 28.

PWD & UD Minister Nabam Tuki and MLA Ngurang Pinch will attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest and the guest of honor respectively.

Nari ADC office inaugurated

PASIGHAT, July 25: WRD Minister Tako Dabi today inaugurated the newly upgraded ADC office amidst a large gathering of public and officials at Nari.

State Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu who could not attend the inauguration programme in message conveyed his greetings to the people of 36 Nari-Koyu on getting the new administrative setup.

Tako Dabi pointed out that due to ‘people first policy’ the state government has up-graded CO Koyu and SDO Nari to EAC and ADC headquarters respectively besides creating new post of Circle officer at Kora.

Ramle Banggo Welfare Society (RBWS) president Bate Koyu submitted a public memorandum for the state chief minister for creation of a new district namely ‘Lower Siang’ comprising the belt of present 28 Likabali Gensi Assembly Constituency and 36 Nari-Koyu Assembly constituency.

The memorandum stated that the demand has been supported by the apex body of Galo community like the Galo Welfare Society and Galo Students Union.

The society hoped that the present state government would meet the most genuine demand put forward by the people. The other demands submitted by PR members included construction of road from Nari to Seren Circle office, full-fledged police station at Koyu, second phase NEC road, establishment of PWD Division at Nari, creation of BSNL sub-station at Koyu, Kora, Telam and New Seren.

Relief sought

ITANAGAR: Tamin Elite Society appealed the state government to release necessary relief to the fire victims of Sigin Colony, Daporijo and also appealed the Local MLA Daklo Nidak to facilitate release of relief material.

Check bogus voter

ITANAGAR: All Pakke-Kessang Pijerang Dissing-Passo Seijosa Students’ Union (APPDSSU) appealed the political leaders, PRs, GBs, Senior citizens and individuals of the area to check enrolment of the bogus voters and co-operate with the union who is spearheading the matter.

It also appealed the AERO and RO concerned to look in to the matter seriously.

The union further demands the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District SSA, East Kameng District to declare block wise quota of the entire district and publish the same before examination to avoid misunderstandings.

Nabard Loan

ITANAGAR: NABARD in its 104th meeting has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 225 lakh for “Maintenance & Up-keeping of Pasighat-Pangin Road (sector 28 to 76 km) in East Siang District, under RIDF XV. The project envisages providing all weather connectivity to three district headquarters, Pasighat, Aalo and Yingkiong to the National Highway (NH-52) at Pasighat.

NABARD in its endeavor to build infrastructure in rural areas has been providing financial support to the State Governments under RIDF.
